History of Biñan City Studies Center

The old municipal hall was cleared for renovation (from then Mayor Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat), with a conscious effort to restore its facade closest to its original appearance. Through City Ordinance No. 01-2009 this historical structure is now the official home of the Binan City Library and Museum under Biñan City Culture, History, Arts and Tourism Office.

Biñan City Studies Center, as the official name of the public library, serves as the repository of print and non-print materials of its wide collection of Filipiniana titles and provides it to the public. Provides reading and internet services and in charge of public library programs. The studies center is an affiliate library of the National Library of the Philippines.

Vision

The Biñan City Studies Center is a preeminent repository of wide and rare Filipiniana collections as well as electronic resources for research enhancing the public’s knowledge and awareness towards cultural, historical, artistic heritage and tourism in the city.

Mission

The Biñan City Studies Center shall:

  • Provide printed resources and other recorded information sources as repository of Filipiniana collections of our country’s cultural heritage and the City of Biñan.
  • Seek to collect and disseminate information, in support to research studies about Biñan for cultural development/ enrichment.
  • Work about the study of preservation and conservation for the promotion of Biñan’s rich culture and history.
